Data center and cloud provider ViaWest has opened its fifth data center – 210,000 sq ft Compark Center - in Denver, Colarado after an increase in demand from companies for cloud computing according to Denver Business Journal.

ViaWest formally opened Compark Center last Thursday.

The $208m data center is just east of Centennial Airport and contains 140,000 sq ft of raised floor dedicated for servers and with the ability for expansion in the future.

Compark Center features high density pods of 700+ W per sq ft and a projected power usage effectiveness (PUE) of 1.2.

ViaWest said it may invest a total of $316m (including the $208m to build) into the Compark Center over the course of seven years.

The company has five data centers in the state of Colorado all located within the Denver area – Wazee, Arapajhoe, Compark, Champa, Cornell.

In April the US state of Colorado announced it could adopt sales- and use-tax exemptions for data center operators with equipment used in their facilities beginning July 1 2015 under House Bill 14-1389 (HB 1389) if it is passed.
