US provider of data center services ViaWest has received state credentials to host gambling applications at its Las Vegas data center from the State of Nevada.
The Denver-based company announced Tuesday that it had registered its Lone Mountain facility as a hosting center with the State of Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB). The registration enables licensed gaming companies to operate gaming devices, cashless wagering systems, race book and sports pool operations within the facility.
Michael Vignato, general manager in charge of the company's business in the region, said, “As a registered hosting center, ViaWest can continue its positive contribution to the Las Vegas economy by housing business-critical operations for the gaming industry. Our newest Vegas facility, Lone Mountain, has ample space to serve this growing industry.”
ViaWest provides colocation, managed services and private cloud services, among other offerings. In addition to Las Vegas, the company operates data centers in Denver, Dallas, Austin, Salt Lake City, Portland and Minneapolis.
The company launched the Lone Mountain facility – which provides 70,000 sq ft of raised floor – in December 2012. Its competitors in Las Vegas include Switch, Cobalt Data Centers and CoreLink.
