TelicityGroup has purchased Irish data center operator Data Electronics Group for £87.6m.
 
The Dublin-based company owns two carrier neutral data centers in Dublin, which have a combined capacity of 4,600 sq me with 4MW of available power. 
 
TelecityGroup CEO Michael Tobin said the Data Electronics purchase will help Telecity meet growing demand in Dublin for data center services.
 
"This brings growth potential in a location where we have for some time been capacity constrained and which many international companies view as their preferred entry point into Europe," Topbin said.
 
"It also establishes TelecityGroup as the market leader in Ireland". 
 
Telecity has more than 20 data center operations across Europe, including data centers in London, Paris and Amsterdam.
 
Data Electronics CEO Maurice Mortell said he will be staying with Data Electronics, taking onk the role of head of Telecity’s Irish operations.
 
"This demonstrates that the Irish IT market is highly viable and shows support for Dublin’s position as a core European technology and internet hub, presenting a significant opportunity for the combined group," Mortell said.
 
The company also launched its financial results today for the first half of 2011, saying revenue was up by 19.8% to £112.2m thanks to increasing demand for services.
 
The deal has expanded Telecity’s debt facility to £300m, up from £200m.
 
TelecityGroup is listed on the London Stock Exchange.
