The Uptime Institute Tier III Design Certified data center has two data halls, each with 1.5MW of capacity and a design PUE of 1.3.

“This is a significant investment from Six Degrees that helps to cement Britain’s second city as a major digital hub for the future. It also establishes us as one of the leading players in the Midlands hosting marketplace,” Mike Ing, COO at 6DG, said.

Timothy Arnold, Colo Technology Director at 6DG, added: “Birmingham Central will better enable our new and existing customers to take full advantage of our converged proposition, with our own on-net Next Generation Network, enterprise cloud services and IP telephony designed with the highest levels of reliability in mind.

“With two flagship data centre facilities in the Midlands, we can offer best-of-breed opportunities for disaster recovery and back up.”

6DG’s existing Midlands data center is located in Studley, and has five data floors. The company also has a facility in Greenwich, London, which has three data floors.
