SingTel is expanding its hosting capabilities in Hong Kong with the launch of a Tier III data center at the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park in Sai Kung.

The SingTel EXPAN Tseung Kwan data center complements the company’s existing data center in Shatin and will cater to the increasing needs from enterprises in the Greater China region.

Goh Boon Huat, vice president, business products at SingTel Group Enterprise said the data center will connect to SingTel’s large fiber and cable network which links its global data center fleet, which now includes 14 data centers.

“With SingTel’s one-stop, end-to-end ICT offering, multi-nationals can grow their business in the region more efficiently and productively,” he said.

The launch of the Tseung Kwan O Data Centre is timely as IDC has ranked Hong Kong, along with Singapore and Taiwan, as the top location in Asia Pacific to set up new and outsourced data centers.

According to Frost and Sullivan, Hong Kong’s data center market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 15.3 per cent to US$802.6m by 2019.
