Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telin Singapore) has agreed a deal that will enable its customers to store their data in Switzerland.

The company announced a partnership with Green Datacenter AG, a subsidiary of Green.ch Group that specializes in secure Swiss colocation services.

The offer would be especially interesting to businesses in South East Asia that want to establish a presence in Europe, since data location rules would require them to store data of European citizens within the EU.

The deal will also enable Green Datacenter customers to quickly and easily move their data to Singapore.

“We are delighted to partner with Telin Singapore to boost our data center networks in Southeast Asia, which is one of the fastest growing markets in the world. We can now support our enterprise clients over the world with secure data storage infrastructure,” said Franz Grüter, managing director of Green.ch.

Telin Singapore is a fully owned subsidiary of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International, which is itself owned by state-run operator PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom), the country’s largest telecommunication and network provider. It operates two data centers in Singapore, and is currently building its third at the Singapore Data Centre Park in Jurong.

Meanwhile Green Datacenter owns five facilities including Zurich West, the largest commercial data center in Switzerland to be built according to Tier IV standard. In its marketing, the company has capitalized on the country’s reputation for political neutrality and respect for privacy.

The partnership allows the customers of both Telin Singapore and Green to have direct access to hosting and colocation infrastructure across Southeast Asia and Europe respectively.

“We aim to maintain proximity with our customers when they expand their businesses, be it in Asia or Europe,” commented Nick Sim, director of sales at Telin Singapore.

“In line with the Singapore Government’s Smart Nation Objectives and support for SMEs to seek fresh business opportunities abroad, our partnership with Green will bolster this initiative through the provision of secured data hosting and colocation services for our enterprise and carrier customers. We look forward to this partnership with Green since it guarantees the high standards which our customers have come to expect.”
