Russian network carrier Rostelecom has opened its third data center in Moscow.

The 3,500 square meter (37,674 sq ft) colocation facility, codenamed ‘Moscow III,’ offers 10MW of power capacity and enough space for 900 racks.

This latest project brings the company’s total rack count to 5,268, placing it among the country’s largest colocation providers.

Rostelecom is a former state monopoly, and remains the largest telecoms company in Russia. It operates an extensive terrestrial IP and MPLS network stretching across 500,000 kilometers, and runs data centers in Moscow, Novosibirsk and Khabarovsk.

The company’s latest facility is located in northwest Moscow, on Ploshchad’ Akademika Kurchatova.

Rostelecom says the facility has been built to Tier III standards – however it hasn’t been certified by the Uptime Institute. So far, the only Rostelecom data center to receive a certificate from Uptime is M1 – the company’s first location in Moscow.
