Bill Boyle talks to Steve Ichinaga, president of Hyve Solutions, on the show floor of the Open Compute Summit

Data center design and integration specialist Hyve Solutions was one of the first to start building facilities based on Open Compute Project blueprints.

In the video above, Hyve president Steve Ichinaga talks about the progress OCP has made in four years since launch – he was present at the very first meeting of the industry group, held in Facebook’s own staff cafeteria.

Ichinaga says the thinking behind the project was not new – but it took Facebook’s endorsement to bring it to the masses, and now the Tier I vendors are all joining in. “The genie is out of the box,” he says.
