NTT Communication’s Indian data center subsidiary has launched a new data center in Electronic City, Bangalore.

The 100,000 sq ft facility was built using skills from both Netmagic and NTT Communications.

Japan-based NTT bought a controlling stake in Netmagic back in January 2012.

Netmagic owns eight facilities in India – including four in Mumbai and two in Bengaluru.

NTT Communications said the new facility also marks the formal launch of the Nexcenter brand of data center services in India.

Under the Nexcenter brand, NTT Communications will offer data center services from around the world – something that is already offered in all of Netmagic’s data centers.

The Electronic City data center will offer managed colocation, cloud computing, IT infrastructure monitoring and management and security.

The facility will provide enterprises with customizable hosting space with high power and cooling densities.

Netmagic and NTT Communications said the facility has been located in an area that is not prone to natural disasters and is ideal for disaster recovery and business continuity sites there.

NTT Communications president and CEO Akira Arima said Bangalore offers a strong growth potential and a supply-constrained market.

“Given the large concentration of data intensive activities in Bangalore, our objective is to accommodate enterprises’ demand to house their critical IT infrastructure closer to them, as well as ensure that our data centers have the scalability to meet their growing needs, while offering highly efficient services at the same time,” Arima said.
