British ISP expands in Manchester
British ISP Metronet (UK) has moved into TeleData’s Delta House in South Manchester, to make its third colocation space.
Metronet serves businesses with wireless and fiber networks, while offering IT services from hosting platforms in data centers. It has 1200 customers including Manchester City Council. Teledata’s carrier-neutral Delta House facility has operated in Manchester’s Airport City Enterprise Zone since 2007, offering colocation, cloud, managed and hybrid IT services.
The extra space should make Metronet more resilient, and provide growth capacity, said Tony Hughes, Metronet sales director: “The data center is located within very close proximity to Airport City – a key location that’s central to Manchester’s plans to become one of the top digital cities in the world and so is a hugely attractive location for Metronet to have a presence to deliver our services”.
Metronet will also offer network services to other TeleData customers at the site, with Matthew Edgley, sales director at TeleData commenting that this would improve customers’ choice, and enhance TeleData’s status as a carrier neutral facility.
Other recent Manchester UK news includes the opening of LDeX’s second data center in the city.
