London-based minicab booking and price comparison app Kabbee has enlisted OpenStack founder Rackspace to provide cloud hosting support as its business continues to expand at a quick rate.

Kabbee’s app works with more than 70 taxi fleets across London and can compare and book taxis for customers using their phones or the Internet.

Due to exponential growth Kabbee exceeded the capacity of its previous hosting provided.

Kabbee enlisted Rackspace to provide its Fanatical Support and Rackspace Intensive hosting meaning Kabbee has access to a dedicated account manager and business development consultant as well as a 24/7 support team.

Kabbee’s CTO Dave Walker said its old data center was located in Paris which was distributed over two sets of servers.

“Working with Rackspace means we will be able to focus more on our services for our customers. With Rackspace the service it provides means it can cope with our on-demand spikes, long term planning and can scale easily,” Walker said.

“We’re looking to extend our services across different cities so we needed a service that could provide that for the future."

Rackspace’s managing director Jeff Cotten told FOCUS working with startups is always exciting.

“A business like Kabbee has been such an instant hit with Londoners. The last thing anyone wants on a night out or a long journey back into London is to be stuck without being able to get home,” Cotten said.

“With 24/7 support from a team of specialists, Kabbee can make sure customers always have access to a fleet of cars across the capital."

Recently Kabbee secured a £3.8m investment with investment company Octopus and Money Supermarket founder Simon Nixon.
