Interxion, a leading European provider of network-neutral datacenter services, has expanded the capacity of its London City datacenter to meet growing customer demand, adding 1,250 m² of premium equipped datacenter space.

The new space, which is ready for service, provides some of the highest power density infrastructure available in the City of London. A portion of the space has already been signed for and, given the strong demand Interxion will continue to look for further expansion opportunities.

The expansion follows the modular datacenter build-out strategy pioneered by Interxion. The new space can provide 2kW per square meter with N+1 redundancy and free air-cooling as standard, as well as the most advanced alarm and monitoring systems. More advanced requirements such as 2N redundancy configurations and high power density requirements of up to 20kW per cabinet can be set up as required.

"Our new datacenter space is designed to meet and exceed fast-growing customer needs in the City, said Greg McCulloch, managing director of Interxion UK.

"Customers who use this facility will enjoy the central location and the highest levels of security, redundancy, and connectivity as standard. We are the only datacenter in the City with space available and 13MW of power on tap, so we can also accommodate any additional needs including high power density configurations.

The UK expansion is the latest step in Interxion's € 90 million footprint expansion plans, which are delivering 13,000m² of equipped space across Europe in 2008.

New datacenter space is also being built and provisioned in Frankfurt, Madrid, Paris, Copenhagen, Vienna and Brussels.

"London is one of the powerhouses of European data demand, and there are very few service providers who can claim to have such a strategic location combined with such advanced infrastructure, said Dick Theunissen, Interxion's chief marketing officer.
