Internet infrastructure provider Internap had an outage at its 111 8th Avenue facility last week which caused issues for online live video broadcaster Livestream, bringing its site down.

New York-based Livestream, founded in 2007, provides live broadcasting for events including New Year’s Eve 2014, Grammy Awards Red Carpet, Academy Awards Red Carpet and the National Rugby League Grand Final.

The service provider was alerted of the outage after its users were unable to use the broadcasting website.

On Livestream’s updated news feed, it said its engineers were investigating the then unknown outage at 3.49am EST.

Internap said it had suffered a power outage and utility power was restored around 6am EST and the outage impacted approximately 20 customers using a combination of colocation and IP connectivity services.

Livestream announced at 17.54 EST that its services were back to being fully operational.

In 2009 Internap experienced an outage which resulted in voice over IP provider ooma and Internap blaming each other after ooma’s systems went down.

The service was down for around six hours and left about a number of businesses without telephone communications.
