Texas-based co-location and managed services provider DataBank is expanding its downtown Dallas facility with another 22,000 square feet of raised floor space.

The DFW-1 data center, built inside the former Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, will also receive 4MW of additional power.

DataBank says almost half of the new space has already been reserved by a single unnamed customer.

Data.... in a bank
DataBank operates two data centers in Dallas, two in Kansas City and one in Minneapolis, which it recently acquired through the purchase of VeriSpace. The company is currently building a second 90,000 square foot facility in Mineapolis, in the south Twin Cities suburb of Eagan.

DFW-1 is DataBank’s largest property – it already houses more than 130,000 square feet of IT equipment and also serves as the company’s headquarters.

The Tier III+ facility offers 2N power redundancy that will keep the hardware running even during a complete grid blackout. It is served by seven 500 ton cooling towers.

"We have seen continual demand driving growth and expansion here in Dallas," said Tim Moore, DataBank's CEO. "We specialize in delivering tailored large-scale deployments by layering in custom features, complementary consulting and top-notch support. This allows DataBank to respond to a client's unique requirements, rather than a cookie-cutter approach."

Last year, DataBank expanded its products and services portfolio, adding DCIM, threat management, log management, scanning and DDoS mitigation tools.
