CoreSite Realty has opened up Amazon Web Services (AWS) to New York customers preferring not to use AWS cloud over the internet.

The AWS Direct Connect service will be hosted in CoreSite data center which will offer access to Direct Connect over 1Gbps or 10Gbps Ethernet connections.

It is the first time the offering has been offered on a secured private network connection in New York. CoreSite already hosts the service out of its Los Angeles campus.

The service can also be accessed using Any2 internet exchange or through Coresite’s MyCoreSite online customer portal.

Multiple connections can be provisioned if more access is required.

“With AWS Direct Connect, you can transfer your business critical data directly from your data center, office, or colocation environment into and from AWS bypassing your Internet service provider and removing network congestion,” CoreSite says on its website.

CoreSite COO Jarrett Appleby said by connecting to a secured private network, customers can realise reduced bandwidth costs and increased bandwidth capacity.

CoreSite believes the solution will be picked up by the financial services, digital content and managed services communities.

The solution can be accessed by customers with a presence in a CoreSite data center in Low Angeles of New York, or through companies that procure fiber through an AWS Direct Connection Solution Provider.
