1-Net Singapore will support Burst Networks in Myanmar, providing data center expertise in the form of operational support and design capabilities for Burst’s new data center.

The data center is located at the Thilawa Special Economic Zone (SEZ) on the outskirts of Yangon, and is Myanmar’s first Uptime Institute accredited Tier IV data center.

Approval

According to an earlier report on DealStreet Asia, the data center and its network facilities were approved last October, and Burst is raising $12 million to build them. The operator expects its facilities to be ready by March 2017 and will open for business the following month.

“We are glad to work with Burst Networks to support their data center operations in Myanmar. It is 1-Net’s inaugural collaboration in Myanmar and we see the immense potential for data center business in this emerging market,” said Wong Ka Vin, managing director of 1-Net Singapore. “We are confident that we can support Burst Networks to operate this facility with our extensive years of experience in data center operations.”

1-Net and Burst Networks are also developing network connectivity between 1-Net’s data center in Singapore and the latter’s data center in Myanmar. The two data centers will be connected by network routes through submarine and terrestrial cables to provide robust international connectivity to customers.

Burst Networks says its facilities will serve as Myanmar’s first Internet Exchange to connect international networks to local operators and Internet Service Providers. Known as “Burst Connectivity Hub” the exchange will support a facility designed to host satellite and cable termination facilities, as well as satellite facilities.
