Ian is a Chartered Engineer with more than 25 years experience in data-centre power and cooling, formerly CTO for Emerson Network Power Systems in EMEA and now principal at Critical Facilities Consulting Ltd and a Visiting Professor to the University of Leeds, School of Mechanical Engineering. An active blogger, trainer, author of many technical papers on critical power and cooling with presentations and keynote speeches made around the world, Ian is a Fellow of the IET, Member of CIBSE & BCS, sits on data-centre committees and international standards bodies, a member and Technical Chair of the Data Centre Council of techUK, Chair of the DCSG of the BCS, Accredited Tier Designer of the Uptime Institute and ex-Chair of the TWG in EMEA for The Green Grid.

 Ian was awarded ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Data Centre Industry’ at Data Centres Europe 2009.
