Telx acquired its Atlanta building in 2004
About one month after Telx’s announcement of an expansion of its data center footprint in Los Angeles, Calif., the colocation and interconnect service provider said it increased power capacity at its facility at 56 Marietta St. in Atlanta, Ga.
“Telx’s additional power allows Colocube to provide higher density managed service solutions to our customers,” said Matt Elkourie, CTO of hosting and IP services provider Colocube (a customer in the space). “The addition of this high-density power and added space will help us to meet and exceed our customers’ needs, both now and in the future as technology continues to evolve.”
The company expanded power capacity on 20,000 square feet of conditioned data center space to handle loads up to 200 watts per square foot. Telx said in a statement the space exceeds Uptime Institute’s Tier III infrastructure redundancy specifications.
“(The facility’s) roots are that of the pre-eminent carrier hotel in the Southeast and have long served the wide variety of prominent enterprise companies that call Atlanta home,” Telx EVP of Operations Michael Terlizzi said in a statement. “The transition of this space from low-density, high-interconnection to high-density, high-interconnection adds tremendous value to our customers.”
Earlier this week, the company announced a new deal with connectivity provider RCN Metro, which will extend its network into a Telx data center in Clifton, N.J., thereby providing Telx customers with access to the network built exclusively for financial service companies. The provider launched its Financial Business Exchange operation in October.
Also in October, Telx announced an expansion of its data center space at 600 West 7th St. in Los Angeles – a large Digital Realty Trust property.
