4MW of power in almost 3,000 square metre footprint
(10/16/2008)
TelecityGroup is to begin a phased launch of a second Stockholm data center in the first half of 2009.
When complete the data center will provide approximately 4 megawatts of customer power in 2,800 square metres of customer space.
TelecityGroup expects to invest around £29 million in the project, its 23rd European facility.
Michael Tobin, CEO of TelecityGroup, commented: "The new data center in Stockholm will ensure we have new growth capacity available just as our existing data center is approaching full utilisation. This will enable us to take advantage of the consistently strong new demand in the market and, at the same time, to support the increasing power, space and connectivity requirements of our existing customers so that they can continue to grow.€VbCrLf
A global systems integrator, currently a customer in TelecityGroup's existing Stockholm data center, has also already agreed to be a customer for the new facility when it opens next year.
As well as international telecoms and network carriers, Netnod, the Swedish Internet exchange, will have a live presence on the site from launch, offering global peering and connectivity options for customers. Kurt-Erik Lindqvist, Managing Director of Netnod, commented: "Netnod is excited to be part of TelecityGroup's expansion in Stockholm. Our infrastructure will provide enhanced peering opportunities for TelecityGroup customers and will both supplement and improve the overall connectivity offering in the data center.€VbCrLf
