Interxion announces ‘aggressive programme’ for Dublin2 data center

90 jobs created in building phase of 12 million euro project to be customer ready by April
(12/15/2009)

The latest in a string of announcements from Interxion saw the operator appoint Structuretone to deliver its second Dublin data center with the first data hall due for delivery ‘in early 2010.’

First customer ready space is scheduled to be ready for occupancy in April.

Structuretone won the contract against stiff competition and admitted it is facing a ‘particularly aggressive programme’.

Mike Kavanagh, Director in Charge of StructureTone Ireland said: “Following a competitive tendering process, we are delighted to be engaged by Interxion. This is our second data centre project for Interxion in Ireland, and we have also delivered a facility for them in another European location. Despite a particularly aggressive programme, I am confident the StructureTone team will deliver beyond expectations. StructureTone has delivered over 3 million sq ft of datacentre 'white space' in Europe, which demonstrates our pedigree as one of the foremost mission-critical contractors.”

The project was first revealed by Datacenterdynamics back in September (see news story link below).

At the time Interxion Group MD Anthony Foy told datacenterdynamics.com that the firm had seven data center investments planned including expansions in Paris and Zurich.

Other recent announcements from Interxion include the start of operations at its PAR 5 data centre at Saint Denis. The 8,000 m2 data centre provides over 4,000 m2 of equipped space.

It also said that Telecom Italia Sparkle took space at its Frankfurt 5 data center, adding to its presence Frankfurt 2, Dusseldorf, Brussels, Paris and Interxion’s Vienna data centres.
