Raritan rolls out new data center power and environmental meters

In-rack meters meant for stand-alone IT equipment or “dumb” rack PDU’s
(10/28/2009)

Provider of hardware and software for data center infrastructure management Raritan launched a new series of meters designed to monitor power use, temperature and humidity of stand-alone IT equipment of rack PDU’s that do not have such monitoring capabilities.

The four new Dominion PX-3000 inline power meters feature built-in monitoring, security and networking capabilities, according to a Raritan statement. The system is compatible with the company’s Power IQ energy management software.

The system gathers power information, including data on voltage, current, power factor, apparent power, active power and kilowatts-per-hour energy consumption. It provides room temperature and humidity information through optional plug-in sensors and can display real-time data either on a local screen or through a Web-based interface.
