London, December 1 2009: First stage judging complete following a record number of entries for the 3rd Annual Datacentre Leaders’ Awards
London, December 1 2009: The first judging stage for the industry’s most prestigious accolades has been completed resulting in a final shortlist in 12 categories.
A record number of entries have been assessed with finalists being chosen in each category.
This year’s award entries more than doubled in number compared with 2008 in categories including Future Thinking and Design, Innovation in the Mega Datacentre, Leadership in the Public Sector, The Green Data Centre and Operational Team of the Year.
The UK and International entries were of the highest quality presenting judges with the difficult task of arriving at a final list. The full list of finalists is below.
“The number and quality of entries for this year’s awards proves the innovation and creativity are the watchwords of the datacentre industry. I am particularly pleased that the addition of new categories including The Award for Data Centre Transformation and the Improved Data Centre Efficiency Award prompted such a positive reaction proving that this industry can predict and act upon the issues we face and the opportunities presented to us,” said Geroge Rockett, Group Publisher at awards organiser DatacenterDynamics.
The winners will be decided following a second stage of the judging process taking place in London in the next two weeks.
The winners will be announced at a gala ceremony at London’s Lancaster Hotel on December 15th.
Individual awards (not subject to shortlist) to be presented on the evening include that of Datacentre Business Leader of the Year and Outstanding Contribution to the Industry.
“The quality of this year’s awards entries is unparalleled. This has made for an challenging judging process so far and will doubtless lead to much interesting debate among the judging panel before the winners are chosen,’ said Zahl Limbuwala, Chair Data Centre Specialist Group at the BCS and Chair of the Datacentre Leaders’ Awards judging panel.
The judging process is overseen by the BCS. Full details of the judging process can be found at www.datacentredynamics.com/awards.
The Datacentre Leaders’ Awards are supported by The Green Grid, The BCS and Intellect.
This year’s awards will be presented by comedian Frankie Boyle.
The awards are sponsored by APC by Schneider Electric, Select Data Centres, Mafi Mushkila Ltd, Norland Managed Services, SKANSKA, CNet Training, Datacentre UK Ltd, JCA Group, Hurley Palmer Flatt and CB Richard Ellis.
