Dubai – 24 November
Hot on the heels of the opening of the world’s largest automated driverless train system, Indranil Guha, IT infrastructure manager at the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, opens the 4th annual DatacenterDynamics Dubai conference and expo by exploring the outsourcing options available to operators in the Middle East. Following on, Patrick Coutinho gives a detailed account of the complexity and challenges of the migration and integration of the data center operations of two banks to form Emirates NBD.
A recurrent theme from last year’s conference and hot topic for operators in Dubai is data center security – so this event will examine minimising operational risks and key aspects in data center service back-up. Finally, although the adoption of virtualisation technologies is behind much of the rest of the developed world, the current economic climate is forcing a rethink and an examination of how virtualisation technologies can simplify mission-critical IT infrastructure to reduce costs, decrease complexity and enhance flexibility. This talk will help delegates with future decisions.
Amsterdam – 24 November
Managing carbon commitments and metrics, cloud computing and on-demand IT, and disaster recovery and business continuity will be addressed at the 5th Annual DatacenterDynamics Amsterdam conference and expo. Robert Rosier, CEO at Itricity, provides insight into how cloud computing requires a completely different set-up of data centers than the traditional colocation centres and data hotels.
Joining him on the day Wim Verdouw, ICT infrastructure architect at IB-Groep, explores the arguments for and against twin and back-up data centers. Arriving from the UK, Liam Newcombe from the Data Centre Group of the British Computer Society will set out how to manage a data center’s carbon risk exposure and provide an evaluation of carbon simulation tools.
With additional contributions from KLM, the Dutch Police and Dutch National Railways, the day will deliver a breadth of perspectives, providing delegates with an exceptional learning experience.
Frankfurt – 30 November
Driving efficiency and maximising the utilisation of existing assets form the theme for our trip to Frankfurt. Patrick Pulvermüller, managing director at eco and HostEurope, will provide an analysis of data center energy-efficiency benchmarking, while Rainer Weidmann, Leiter engineering infrastructure manager at T-Systems, sets out the latest developments on fuel cells and alternative energy sources.
Providing their own case study experiences Robert Lacroix, head of IT infrastructure at Asklepios Group, will set out his perspective on the IT infrastructure requirements in the hospital of the future, and Christian Altenberger, ICT manager for the City of Vienna, examines the conditions under which a new data center is more cost-effective than an upgrade.
