A crisis is a terrible thing to waste. The opportunities are in stretching the life of an existing facility, The two fundamental changes are CIOs moving from providing services to the other executives. CIOs are not buying servers and handing them over anymore, but are moving to a rationalised system under which they have control.
We are starting to integrate our services business. Systems management is about linking application demand and availability, and changing the amount of power going through the UPS systems, the cooing systems, etc. So, the technology side and infrastructure side move up and down as the workload changes, instead of a lot of cold air blowing on a server that is being lightly used.
